Dato’ Ir Jauhari Hamidi

Dato’ Ir. Jauhari was the Director of Special Projects prior to his present appointment on 1 August 2010. He was also formerly the Executive Vice President for the Utilities Division and Managing Director of Sime UEP Properties Bhd. Dato’ Ir. Jauhari has served in various capacities since joining the Group 27 years ago.

Dato’ Ir. Jauhari is a registered professional engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a corporate member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia. He has undergone the Directors-Training Programme and Harvard Business School Senior Management Development Programme. Dato’ Ir. Jauhari holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from University College Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom.

He carries over 19 years of operational experience in the ports and container terminal management industry, mainly in one of the world’s most busy ports – Hong Kong. Before joining Sime Darby, he steered business as the operations manager of the Hong Kong Business Unit for Modern Terminals Limited, the second largest port operator in Hong Kong.

During his tenure there, he made significant changes that transformed the business, including the combination of the operation teams of Terminals 1, 2 & 5 and Terminal 9 South. The consolidation led to a notable people productivity improvement through synergy and process streamlining that paved the way for labor and cost reduction.

He also successfully reformed the trucking vendor contract structure to achieve substantial saving in trucking cost from 2007 to 2010.

Mr Lee obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the Simor Fraser University in British Columbia Canada.
