Executive Vice President, Energy & Utilities Non-China Operations

Dato’ Ir. Jauhari was appointed Executive Vice President – Energy & Utilities, Non-China Operations on 1 August 2010. He was appointed to the Board of Directors for Sime Darby Energy Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Group on 20 August 2010.

Dato’ Ir. Jauhari holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from University College Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. He is a registered professional engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a corporate member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia. Dato’ Ir. Jauhari has undergone the Directors-Training Programme and Harvard Business School Senior Management Development Programme.

He currently manages the division’s portfolio of Non-China Operations, which includes Power and Engineering Services business units in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Power business unit comprises three power plants, one in Malaysia and two in Thailand. The three plants have a combined capacity of 590MW. Engineering Services focuses on system integration and sales of a wide spectrum of engineering products and solutions. It has operations in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Dato’ Ir. Jauhari served as the Director of Special Projects prior to his present appointment as Executive Vice President. He was also formerly the Executive Vice President for the Utilities Division and Managing Director of Sime UEP Properties Bhd. Dato’ Ir. Jauhari has served in various capacities within Sime Darby since joining the Group on 1 May 1983.

Mr Timothy Lee Chi Tim was appointed Executive Vice President – Energy & Utilities, China Operations on 15 December 2011. He was appointed to the Board of Directors for Sime Darby Utilities Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Group on 7 May 2012.

Mr Lee holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Simon Fraser University in British Columbia Canada. As Executive Vice President, he manages the Ports & Logistics and Water Management business units located in Weifang and Jining within the Shandong province.

Ports & Logistics business unit comprises four ports, one in Weifang and three in Jining. A fourth port in Jining is still under construction. The business unit has a total capacity of 34.5 million metric tonnes per annum, handling bulk, liquid, general cargo as well as container operations.

Water Management business unit, represented by Weifang Water comprises two water treatment plants and a flatbed reservoir of 3.5 million cubic metres. Weifang Water has a total capacity of 140,000 cubic metres per day.

Mr Lee carries over 19 years of operational experience in the ports and container terminal management industry in Hong Kong, one of the world’s busiest ports. Prior to joining Sime Darby, he held the position of Operations Manager – Hong Kong Business Unit for Modern Terminals Limited, the second largest port operator in Hong Kong.

He was appointed as Chairman of the Sea Cargo Customer Liaison Group in 2010, a committee organised by the Hong Kong Customs & Excise Department to gather industry expertise to improve port competitiveness. Under his stewardship, significant transformations were made, including the combination of the operation teams of Terminals 1, 2, 5 & 9 (South) and reform of trucking vendor contract structure. The changes led to improved productivity and streamlined process which paved the way for labour and cost reduction.
