Jining Sime Darby Longgong Port Co Ltd (South Port)
Jining Sime Darby Longgong Port Co Ltd (“South Port”) was incorporated in November 2008 as a joint venture company between Sime Darby Overseas (HK) Limited (70%) and Jining City Shizhong District City Construction Investment Co Ltd (30%).
South Port is located in the southern suburban scenery of Jining, a prefecture-level city in the Southwestern region of the Shandong province, People’s Republic of China. Jining is today the northernmost city reachable by navigation on the 1,776km Grand Canal of China, also known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal – the longest ancient man-made canal or waterway in the world.
South Port was initiated as part of the Jining Government’s plans to consolidate another 4 coal jetties in the region to improve transport efficiency and the environment. The principal activities of South Port are marketing and operation of inland coal and general cargo. It has three 1,000 tonne berths with a design capacity of approx. 3 million MT per annum. Construction on South Port has been completed and the port will commence operations in September 2011.
